Lake Cowichan – known as Kaatza to the Coast Salish First Nations, is the second largest lake on Vancouver Island, and is 30 km in length.

Cowichan Valley is called “the Warm Land” and has one of Canada’s mildest temperatures making it an ideal vacation destination. Besides the pristine waters of Lake Cowichan, it has a national heritage river (Cowichan River), spectacular northwest rainforest and the warm Pacific coastline of Cowichan Bay.

The Cowichan Lake area is rich in history – especially logging and mining. The museum in Lake Cowichan will give you a good background of the areas early years.

“Walk on the Lake” – Lake Cowichan has Vancouver Island’s largest floating boardwalk.
